New Handicap System
Another innovation for season 35 - we're excited to announce the launch of handicaps for the Sydney Summer Series!
Our handicap system is designed to celebrate improvement, giving runners of all levels a shot at weekly glory.
Based on the proven Central Coast SS model (with a few tweaks!), this system rewards consistent effort and personal progress.
In addition, we have created four micro-series each of four weeks within the SSS and based on terrain type: Bush, Hill, Park and Street.
The highest-scoring male and female (on handicap) after the four weeks of each series will receive a box of chocolates.
We'll post the weekly handicap winners and micro-series standings as we go.
How it works:
Each runner gets a handicap number, calculated from your performance across the season. This number is added to your weekly score to create your handicap score — and each week, we’ll announce a male and female handicap winner!
Eligibility:
You need to have completed at least 6 events in the 2023/24 SSS season to qualify. We’ve excluded outliers like ultra-short (under 40 mins) or extra-long (over 52 mins) events, and performances that were well below your usual standard (we get it, bad days happen!). So there's plenty of extra motivation - and fun and interest and discussion - to look forward to this season.
Handicaps will run on a trial basis for this summer and be reviewed for next season.
